My name is James, I started working with Jackie in early 2021 after I suffered a traumatic brain injury and a stroke, after being hit by a vehicle while I was cycling in November 2020
The rehab journey while never over and sometimes feeling like a never ending job was certainly helped by Jackie Waller and her approach, whilst it was her job and profession, she showed genuine interest in my journey and cared like a friend. We built up a very successful rehabilitation process, that went from walking up the road from my house to the corner shop, through to helping me cook with the adaptations I needed and be more involved with my family. Now 4 years on, I’ve improved so much, Jackie has helped plan the adaptations I need for a new more suitable home and I now have a successful part time job in my local cafe.
I certainly feel a lot more independent and have learnt how to help manage my energy and especially my fatigue, which is something that doesn’t improve much after TBI/ stroke but managing it well is very important.
I will really miss working with Jackie however I’m sure I’ll keep in touch sharing updates especially around our love of coffee.
